Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
This year's Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign in Georgetown, TX is led by Brylee Dew and Liliana Lutz, both seniors at Georgetown High School. Their goal is to raise $50,000 towards Patient Care and Support.
Why Brylee joined LLS:
Brylee's sister, Bailey Dew, was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma just two days after turning 18 in December 2023. However, getting to that diagnosis was a long and difficult process for their family. When she officially began chemotherapy in January, it wasn’t long before Bailey started losing her hair. At that moment, Brylee decided to shave her head alongside her sister. commit her time and love to other fighters like Bailey.
Why Liliana joined LLS:
Liliana joined LLS in honor of her Aunt Vergie. She passed away 5 years ago due to lung cancer. Seeing how this diagnosis affected her children, her husband, and her family as a whole has led Liliana to become involved with this organization. She aspires to help patients and families like her own find better treatment and support options for their diagnosis.
Because of their close connections with cancer, Brylee and Liliana were able to see the effects of a diagnosis. This inspired them to take on this challange and unite their community in support of local fighters and their families. They are determined and eager to not only bring awareness of blood cancers but also spread LLS's support.
Will you join us in this fight to end cancer?
Will you just DEW it?
